Passing through the EAST district
The EST District, the most European of the districts in France!
Located in the East of France, covering the entirety of the Grand Est administrative region (Alsace, Lorraine, Champagne, Ardennes) – the Lions 103 Est district, one of the largest in DM 103, benefits from a privileged geographical position by sharing its borders with four countries: Belgium, Germany, Luxembourg and Switzerland, making MD 103 East the most European of the French districts! Europe is present in the daily life of the “Grand Estois” Lions with cross-border projects and lasting twinnings.
With this attractiveness, this district is the largest in MD 103 France in terms of membership: 2,300 lions spread across 116 clubs!
This dynamism is manifested in numerous actions at the regional, zone and club level. Here are some illustrations:
Flagship district actions such as “Visualase” which enabled the co-financing of a slide scanner at the Nancy Regional University Hospital, in order to accelerate the diagnosis of childhood cancers or the financing of a health bus to travel around the medical deserts and prevention. Actions aimed at youth and the environment are planned.
Unifying and remarkable Zone actions:
“Le Cabaret Vert”, a music festival organized in Charleville-Mézières, bringing together more than 100 lions of the Ardennes whose mission is to nourish the approximately 130,000 festival-goers present with local specialties. The profits collected benefit people suffering from Alzheimer’s disease and dependent elderly people.
“Move for your planet”, a large-scale action by clubs in southern Alsace consisting of the collection, dismantling and recycling of computers and other electronic devices. This environmental action has become a real structuring project for the territory, in which local authorities actively contribute.
Through these few examples of unifying actions, let us not forget the hundreds of actions initiated on a daily basis by the 116 Lions clubs of DM 103 East, which make the Lions movement an essential player in our towns and villages in the service of generosity, mutual aid and humanism. Wherever there is a need, there is a Lion!
