The Sauternes vineyard, with an area of 2,000 hectares, is a little bit of Tuscany in our area, a beautiful landscape and preserved architecture.
South of Bordeaux, the pretty village of Sauternes seems so quite and a little out of time.
Sauternes offers a sweet white wine, the color of gold, which intensifies over time. And the time can be long: a 20 or 30 years old Sauternes will always delight you with its depth and lively sweetness. A real wine of contrasts.
Château Gravas in Barsac, has been run by the same family for 165 years. Today, Michel and Florence Bernard, 6th generation, combine wine and art in a beautiful harmony: artists’ works are permanently exhibited at the property and “La Trilogie” of Graves, dry whites, reds or sweet wines, inspired the artist Paul Flickinger, to illustrate exclusive bottles, from the aromatic notes of citrus fruits and spices, including the lively freshness of the Spirit of Gravas.
This harmony between wine and art was recognized in 2008, when the Bernard family was awarded the “BEST OF Wine Tourism” trophy and a second time, in 2014, receiving “GOLD” in the “Art and Culture” category.
It’s always a great pleasure to meet producers who are as committed as they are passionate.
