12:30-13:00 Launch of the service activity: Sanitary products for homeless shelters
We invite you to take part in a service activity that truly embodies the spirit of the Lions: helping those in need. We will organize in the morning a collection of essential hygiene products, such as soap, toothbrushes, toothpaste, shampoo, and other personal care items. These items will be gathered and packed on-site with the help of Lions volunteers, then redistributed to homeless shelters in Bordeaux, in partnership with the City Council.

This initiative aims to provide some comfort and dignity to people in severe hardship. As Lions, we have the opportunity to offer tangible support to a local cause that affects many families. Participating in this activity is an excellent way to make a difference while strengthening the bonds between Lions from across Europe.

The event will also be an opportunity to meet and exchange experiences n the service activities we develop in Europe. Together, we will highlight the importance of community engagement and mutual support. It is a moment of sharing, generosity, and direct action, and we strongly encourage you to join us.

Together, we can make a real impact for those who need it the most!

The onset of demographic change will lead to a further decline in the younger population and an increasing proportion of older people in all European countries. Lions in Europe must face up to this challenge and take it into account when developing their own membership and carrying out activities.
In line with the 17 goals of the UN Sustainable Development Strategy, important objectives include combating poverty in old age and the need for long-term care, creating age-appropriate spatial and structural developments in communities and preventing social isolation or age discrimination. An intergenerational commitment by young and old, Lions and Leos can help to counteract a possible intergenerational conflict in the future. As the fourth life skills program in Germany, Lions SEN has answers and solutions to the challenges of demographic change, which will be presented and discussed in the workshop. Special activities in the spirit of “We Serve” help older adults to actively experience and shape this change.

A tried-and-tested Lions SEN project that gives older people, people with dementia and people with disabilities access to the digital world will be presented at the workshop. Under the name ” Let us connect you” (LUCY) , many people nationally and internationally have already been taught how to use digital tools safely. For trainers, there is a handbook with curricula and guidelines that enables quick lesson preparation.  A specially designed tablet, the “Lions Comfort Tablet”, is very easy to learn to use. People with no previous knowledge can explore a new world on the screen and keep in touch with friends and family digitally. Lions from Europe will experience this new way of communicating through a presentation and by trying out the devices for themselves. Old and young people can learn from each other and “Let us connect you” helps people to actively find ways out of loneliness and isolation with the “Lions Comfort Tablet”. The project is available for Lions in Europe to implement in their country. The English edition of the “Let us connect you” handbook and the English version of the “Lions Comfort Tablet (LCT)” are helpful here.

With the motto: “Let us connect you – 2000 Lions-Comfort-Tablet PC for older adults in Europe” the workshop and and exhibition stand will also offer the opportunity to test the devices with the aim of then actively shaping and expanding this project throughout Europe
